Casino Christian School offers a Creative Arts program in the areas of Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama. These Creative Arts are taught as compulsory subjects from Kindergarten to Year 6. In Year 7 and 8 Music and Visual Arts are compulsory, and these two and Drama are offered as elective subjects from Year 9 onwards.
The school has well equipped Art and Music Rooms. We also have a large Multi-Purpose Centre with a large stage that enables Music and Drama performances, and with the size to hold Dance classes and school socials.
The various opportunities in Creative Arts help students gain confidence as well as developing social and cognitive skills they wouldn’t necessarily gain in other subjects.
Through Visual Arts, students are able to explore their creativity in painting, drawing and sculpturing as well as many other activities.
Through Music, students will have the opportunity to be a part of our concert band and enjoy performing. Music tutors in piano, brass, drums, guitar and singing also attend the school. Students are given the opportunity to attend private lessons.
Through Drama, students make, perform and appreciate dramatic and theatrical works, both individually and in groups. Year 9 and 10 students will have the opportunity to work together on making their own piece of drama using a chosen form such as street theatre, improvisation, mime, puppetry, comedy, etc.
Through Dance, students aim to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding in appreciating and performing dances from a range of cultural contexts. Dances may be drawn from a variety of sources, including contemporary and popular dance, modern dance, bush dance, and indigenous, folk and traditional dances.
